This is where I will post everything I do in the area of Arduino, Raspberry PI, 3D Printing, …

The intend is just to have a notepad for my own work. I use wiki just because I love its syntax.

Fitting the tail bag S from Enduristan to a BMW R 1250 GS Adventure

The ultimate goal is to have all my camera stuff fitting into a tail bag. After reviewing a Buch of tail bag, I decided to go for the Enduristan L because of its high waterproofing, the way it is secured on the bike with four hooks combined with my curiosity for that brand ;)

Enduristan Tail Bag L

The only problem, as you can see on the picture bellow, is that the hooks fitted on the Enduristan Tail Bag have a smaller diameter that the bar of the GS.

Enduristan Tail S Not fitting the BMW GS 1250 To solve that issue, I put a piece of fabric (from awell known competitor brand) around the bar, fitted the hooks around in the upside down position, and very gently fitted the back of the hook with a rubber mallet until the point where the hook fits the bar just perfectly.

MAXTEMP BED on Ultimaker Original Heated Bed Upgrade

After having fiddle with all sort of possible heated bed upgrade (I actually had one that worked pretty well but not as simple and elegant as the one provided by Ultimaker) I finally decided to buy their upgrade kit from the Ultimaker store. They announced shipping as from Octobre 1st and my kit was delivered on the 3rd.

Assembling the kit with the help of the manual found on their website was easy as is upgrading the firmware. It was time for the first tests…

The first think I decided to print is one of those stackable box I had on the SD Card. I decided to print it directly from the UltiController. Heating the bed is slower than with my previous custom solution which had its own 300W power supply but is reasonably fast comparing to what MakerBot's users experiences. The print started perfectly but I quickly realised that the Z was too fast resulting in under extrusion and wrong measures on the Z dimension (The result was twice as high as expected).

But he worst was coming : After a couple of trial and error, the UltiController started reporting MAXTEMP BED and rebooted every few seconds. I shutdown the printer and did a lot of tests, starting with the wiring between the PCB and the heated bed and finally discover the heated bed connector was not well connected to the board itself as measuring resistor around the thermocouple reported 110Ohm or so while measuring the same but around the connector reported infinite.

I have contacted the support and hope they will send me another heated bed part. Will let you know.

Update : Ultimaker support did a great job in sending me an spare heated bed immediatly.
